(Oboe) News to me
I just saw a Geico commercial with ALEX KLEIN! He was the "real person" who had a celebrity next to him (the sounds effect guy from Police Academy) to "tell his story". I was thinking "Alex Klein should be the celebrity!!!!!"...alas, how many people would recognize AK? It may have been my imagination, but I swear there was a little twinkle in his eye as he did the commercial. Was he just having fun while making it? or was he thinking, "I'm more famous than you think I am!" (or, "I'm more talented than this sounds effect guy!")

Wow. I just saw the tail end of that commercial! I've never seen Alex Klein, so I didn't recognize him. Did they give his name at the beginning?
Yes! It was on the screen and they said, "Alex Klein is a real Geico customer..." Too funny!
Jillian! Gina Cox from UNC days, here! (Actually it's Gina Johnson now...I married Nat Johnson...yes, the grad student from UNC.) I stumbled across your blog website about a week ago, and have been trying to find time to figure out how to reply to you (it's actually easier than I realized...I just don't blog yet). I am so excited for you and Dave! Nat & I have one daughter, Lauren, who turns two on December 6th, and we have a second one coming sometime in June. Anyway, put me on the breastfeeding support group list. Contact me anytime at ginajohnson1221@yahoo.com. Good luck! Great to know what you're up to!
Hi Gina! Good to hear from you! I'll send you an email today.
Ooooh I just had to find it. http://youtube.com/watch?v=HOYnOeo42ko
Soooo funny!!
That's awesome (I finally saw it). I love how everyone here (and on the YouTube comments) knows Alex Klein by name and reputation, but no one can remember the other guy's name ;)
To be fair, it's on the screen too, but he's introduced as "The Guy Who Makes Those Cool Sound Effects".
I wonder how he got approached for that . . .
Unbelievable. I've seen that commercial at least 10 times, but I never paid attention that closely...
And congrats on the baby!
Apparently he actually did have an accident, and they helped him out a lot, and he sent them a thank you letter...and a few months later they called him up, asking him to make the ad. Crazy!
You can see an oboe on his mantle!
