Zin! Zin! Zin! A Violin!

Dave and I read a lovely book to my three-year-old niece Roxanne at their house the other day (we are in Calgary, hence no recent posts). I was pleasantly surprised to find the oboe as one of the described instruments in the book! Here's an excerpt from "Zin! Zin! Zin! A Violin!" by Lloyd Moss

Gleeful, bleating, sobbing, pleading
Through its throbbing double-reeding
Oboe, please don't hesitate:
Come, make it an octet--that's eight!
In the picture, the oboist has tears running down her face. Yes, we all feel that way sometimes. Dave pointed out to Roxanne that she was crying because she had a bad reed!

That's where our book came from. We always told my sister and Dave that breakfast was the most important meal, and literary source, of the day.
